 These techniques are not part of the Wado Grade Syllabus, but merely additional training elements introduced to further complement our Wado training, especially in relationship to the already established Kihon-Gumite.

Kumite Gata were originally introduced into Wadoryu Karate by Ohtsuka Meijin in 1934.

Join us on the 23rd of June to help celebrate the award of Hanshi to Sensei Gary E Swift 8th Dan, and the 10 year anniversary of the British Wado Federation.

The IWF presents: The Shogo-Hanshi Award Day Course and Hanshi Cup Competition

Invited 7th and 8th Dan instructors from the UK & Europe will be in attendance, teaching alongside one another for the first time and for this most prestigious occasion of our Wado history and lineage. Therewill be numerous 6-minute ‘mini-courses’ throughout the day, from 10am to 2pm.

Note: Self warm-up & registration period available from 9.30am

Optional: The Hanshi Cup will run from 2pm to 4pm. Inclusive kata competition.

ALL INCLUSIVE – 6 hours training & competition for just £20

Ian Hunter 8th Dan Renshi – Tanto-Dori – Suzuki Sensei’s ‘original’ knife defence skills

SHORT BREAK 12.15pm

The Hanshi Cup – 2pm onwards

The competition will be for the newly created ‘Hanshi Cup’ (from the already established Kyoshi Cup), which will be awarded by HRH Prince George Karageorgevitch and Sensei Gary E Swift 8th Dan Hanshi at the end of the day

Flag judged on the day will include al lthe invited 7th & 8th Dan in attendance (plus available 5th Dan & above, if required).

BWK Southeast Standardisation Course Part 1

Includes standardisation of all British Wadokai kihon-waza and renraku-waza required for Yudan Shina, and all Sanbon-gumite.

If there is time there will be also elements and practise of the practical applcations and tactics of Futari-dori (2-to-1 sparring), so please ensure you bring your Bogu (hand mitts and shin & instep pads)

Please ensure you bring your BWK Attendance Card for signing/stamping. Open to all! These courses are open to all students, as ALL the Wado syllabus is covered and standardised over the four-part courses. So, students wanting to grade for a future black-belt can start accumulating Standardisation Course stamps from when they first start training, if they wanted to, although these courses are especially recommended for 7th Kyū & above. There is (or should be) no excuse for students who have not acquired the minimum requirements to grade for black-belt ranks (as they have from the day they start training to get stamps). Remember, all applications, which do not have the required training history, will be rejected due to inadequate training (Futanren). Thinking of going? Car-Share: Why not half the cost and ask another student or training colleague to join you and share the petrol cost? Transport from Plymouth available. Due to past experiences with visa complications/implications, British Wadokai Courses are open ONLY to British Wadokai & British Wado Federation Members
