Hanshi Course & Cup Feedback

Many, maaaaany thanks to ALL 80 odd students who came to the Hanshi course (and later Hanshi Cup) in Horsham today. I hope you all took plenty away from the 6 training segments (which seemed to become shorter each time due to constant overrunning 😉 ).

For those of you who were able to eat the cake provided, I hope it was worth it – I’m not at all jealous!

I’d also like to add I’m really proud of the students from Zanshin and Horsham dojo who competed in the kata competition. Being an open division you were up against odds far above your usual grades, and you put tremendous effort into your practice and performance. I’ve had some great comments about you so believe me when I say – you have made me very proud!

I was really lucky and proud to walk away with a 3rd place bronze medal, and would like to congratulate Colin Holmes of East-West Wado (Newcastle) for his 1st place win!

See attached a few photos I had on my phone. Hopefully many more to follow!

I can’t seem to stop this photo uploading upside down – so go practice your headstands!

Christmas 2016 Updates

Hello all,

Just a brief update before we hit the Christmas holidays. Yesterday we had the final Horsham DKW Wednesday evening training until the 4th January 2017.

For us training on Fridays in Burgess Hill, we still have tomorrow (9th) and next week (16th) before we break up for the holidays. We will be back in the dojo on the 6th January 2017.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Rest up, eat plenty, and be ready to work it all off in 2017!

All the best

Kimesanchin Kata Tournament 15/10/2016

I would like to thank Sensei Ian of Kimesanchin for inviting Zanshin over to compete at their local club kata tournament.

With myself and 4 students competing, we managed to walk away with two medals! Congratualtions to Peter Downes 7th Kyu for his 3rd place win, and I was lucky enough (by, I think, 0.1 of a point) to win gold in my category.

The rest are determined to come back next year and win something for the club. It’ll take plenty of hard work and training, but I am certain they will be able to do so ^_^

Upcoming Events

Let’s hope this summer holds! We as a club want to get out into the community, and what better way to start than with a couple of fetes? Join us for these upcoming events:

Burgess Hill Town Fayre – 12th June 2016 – 11am to 4pm

Our first time trying to pitch a tent up at Burgess Hill Town Fayre, let’s show the locals a little of what our club has been training for.

Stall set up will be at 09:15. We will have a public performance starting at 12:20 for twenty minutes. Please wear your training Gi and white shoes / socks (ideally thin trainers as opposed to bulky ones). Hopefully the sun holds out!

Cowfold Fete – 2nd July 2016 – 10am onwards

After a dreary event in 2014, we’re hoping this year the 2nd of July will have sunshine! We will be setting up a gazebo and table, and hopefully squeeze in a demo or two.

Horsham Sparks in the Park – 10th July 2016 – 12pm onwards

The 2014 event was extremely well attended, and very very sunny, so bring sun-cream! As with Cowfold we hope to have a large demo area and demo slot, so be sure to practice your kata and come and show it off.

More to come as they are arranged…
